Roasted Cabbage Steaks
Thick cabbage slices roasted with date syrup and garlic until caramelized — a surprising vegetarian starter.

Ingredients
- 1 large white cabbage, cut into 2–3 cm thick rounds
- 1/4 cup water
- 5 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp date syrup (silan)
- 1 tsp grill seasoning (chicken or meat — whatever you have)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200°C on the roast setting (convection or grill).

In a bowl, whisk the water, olive oil, date syrup, seasoning, salt and garlic until well combined.

Place the cabbage slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush both sides with the seasoning mixture.

Roast for 15–20 minutes, until the cabbage is tender and the edges of the "steaks" turn browned and caramelized.

Serve hot as a side or a vegetarian main. Great topped with tahini or toasted sesame seeds.
