Ingredients

  • 7 large green apples
  • 50 g butter
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • Ready-made sweet shortcrust pastry

Instructions

  1. 1

Peel and core the apples, halve them and cut each half into thin slices.

  2. 2

Melt the butter in a small pot, add the apples, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon and cook until the apples turn golden.

  3. 3

Line a round pan with the pastry and blind bake it (cover the dough with baking paper topped with dried beans or chickpeas) at 180C for about 20 minutes.

  4. 4

Remove the pan from the oven, arrange the apple slices in a flower pattern over the crust and bake for another 20 minutes at 180C. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Noga's tip

For a quicker version, dice the apples into cubes and top the pie with another layer of shortcrust pastry.
